boilermaker
Apart from being a popular drink, the dictionary definition of a boilermaker is a person who works with metal- a welder or fabricator of sorts. We took this definition as a metaphor for our design and translated it in the form of metal elements that are scattered through the bar. We imagined the structure to be the insides of an abandoned warehouse with its unfinished plastered walls, micro-concrete flooring, metal trusses and high pitched roof. The raw, distressed shell sets the stage for our cohesive mix of lights, furniture, bold art, decor, plants and most importantly the food and drinks. We wanted to make it feel almost like you were stepping into a three dimensional scrapbook.
The idea behind the design of Boilermaker is to create a bar that felt crude but comfortable, unfinished but complete. The space has an industrial soul with a laidback spirit and a quirky personality. The beauty of the space is in the details. We’ve added layers of elements in the design and a few easter eggs that you’d hopefully discover over the several times you visit Boilermaker.
