etymology
Translated directly, ‘Praia’ is a Portuguese word that means land by the sea. To us it means Goa. It means that we are respectful of the land we build on, and through our designs we strive to be grounded, rooted and contextual. We aim to design places that belong.
Deconstructed directly ‘Praia’ is an acronym for the work we encompass; products, restoration, architecture, interior architecture.
Working with architecture and interior design projects, we ensure that our work achieves that fine balance between the past, present and future. Our designs respect the heritage, culture, climatology and materials of the region. Working with restoration projects is not just sustainability at its best, but also a distinctive journey to bring the uniquely Goan homes back to life.
Studio Praia is a team of driven architects and interior designers founded by Rochelle Santimano and Nikhil Doshi in 2020. The studio is based in Goa, India and works on projects across the country.
